CITY OF SALT LAKE “Being a father is not easy. You can go from a feeling of joy to a feeling of stress in the blink of an eye.
Utah State University Extension is bringing in experts to help parents thrive as part of its inaugural Utah Parenting Summit on Saturday, October 8.
Parents have faced some challenges – especially during the pandemic – so they want to provide real-world solutions for all types of parents and caregivers.
“We are all doing the best we can. It’s not easy and no one expects parents to be perfect,” said Dr. Lisa M. Schainker, assistant professor at Utah State University Extension.
Experts will lead six workshops, focusing on topics such as building stronger relationships with your children and learning strategies to empower ourselves and, in turn, be more effective parents.
Its keynote speaker, Mackenzie Johnson, is a podcaster who shares relatable information on the latest research and parenting techniques.
“It’s a reminder that hey, this is really important and I really need to make time to talk to my son,” Schainker said. “I really need to make time to do fun activities with them or acknowledge the good things I see them doing so they keep doing them.”
The virtual Utah Parenting Summit will be held online on Saturday, October 8, from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm.
You can register now and get tickets for $10 until September 30th. After that, the price goes up to $15.
