Guide to the 2022 Fall Festivals in Missouri and Illinois

From Oktoberfest to apple festivals, there’s something for everyone on this list.

ST. LOUIS – Autumn is fast approaching and festivals are such a big part of the autumn fun that we can’t resist.

We’ve compiled a list of some fall festivals in Missouri and Illinois for those staying in the St. Louis or want to get out of town for the weekend.

From Oktoberfest to craft markets and delicious local treats, there’s something for everyone on this list.

September

Missouri

The Wentzville Fall Festival is a two-day festival with live music, local food and craft vendors, and a children’s play area. Musical performances by local bands include Steve Ewing, Fanfare and Silver Bullet.

  • Where: Downtown Wentzville on Main Street between Linn and McRoberts.
  • When: 18:00-22:30; Friday, 09/16 and from 12:00 to 22:30, Saturday, 09.17.
  • Price: Free participation.
  • No dogs or coolers are allowed at the festival.

Oktoberfest at Grant’s Farm

Celebrate Grant’s Farm’s German heritage with Oktoberfest. Watch live music, food, beer and see all that Grant’s Farm has to offer at the weekend-long festival.

Where: Grant’s Farm, 7385 Grant Road, St. Louis, Missouri.

When: 4pm to 9pm, Friday, September 16; Saturday, September 17, from 9 am to 9 pm and Sunday, September 18, from 9 am to 6 pm.

Price: Admission to Grant’s Farm is free. Parking tickets must be purchased. VIP passes are also available for purchase. Other costs vary.

Washington: Fall Arts and Crafts Festival

The 22nd Annual Autumn Arts and Crafts Festival features arts and crafts from 75 artisans and artisans. Festival-goers will find live music and a food court as they roam downtown Washington for all the handcrafted items. Some of the festival’s offerings include: soaps, jewelry, original artwork, clothing, handcrafted wooden furniture and much more.

  • Where: Downtown Washington on Main Street and Elm Street at Washington Farmer’s Market, 317 West Main Street Washington, MO, 63090.
  • When: 4pm-7pm Friday, September 23; Saturday, September 24, 10 am to 6 pm and Sunday, September 25, 10 am to 4 pm
  • Price: Free participation. Free parking.
  • Dogs, outside food and drink are not allowed at the festival.

St. Charles Oktoberfest is a fun-filled weekend filled with races for humans and dachshunds, a meat-eating contest and much more. There’s also live music and entertainment, a kids’ area and plenty of beer for those 21 and up.

  • Where: Frontier Park at 500 S. Riverside Drive
  • When: 16:00 – 23:00 Friday, September 23; Saturday, September 24, from 10 am to 11 pm and Sunday, September 25, from 10 am to 5 pm.
  • Price: Admission is free, alcohol wristbands are $5 USD. Other activity costs vary. Free buses.
  • Dogs are not allowed unless they are participating in the Weiner Takes All dog race on September 24th.

Jefferson City Oktoberfest

The 22nd annual Jefferson City Oktoberfest is a day that celebrates German heritage in Southside Jefferson City. Music, crafts and food, a beer and wine garden, a dachshund derby and a car show are just some of the activities on offer at the festival.

  • Where: Broadway, Dunklin and Washington Streets in Jefferson City.
  • When: Saturday, September 24, 10 am to 6 pm.
  • Price: Free participation. Other activities may cost.

illinois

Head to Belleville for the 41st annual Belleville Oktoberfest. Enjoy live music, great local food and celebrate Belleville’s German history with the whole family. You can also check out the Vienna dog races, costume contest and pitcher contest.

  • Where: Belleville, Illinois
  • When: Friday, September 16, 11 am to 11 pm and Saturday, September 17, 11 am to 11 pm.

The Apple Festival at Pere Marquette Lodge in Grafton is an annual event. The festival offers family fun with apple pie rides, live music, pumpkin bread, food from the inn’s restaurant and shopping. There are also activities for children.

  • When: 11 am to 3 pm, Sunday, September 18.

Godfrey: Autumn Corn Festival

The Fall Corn Festival in Godfrey has a lot going for the fall season. This year’s Fall Corn Festival features a corn-eating contest, the Great Godfrey Corn Maze, a zoo, live music and more.

The Mount Vernon Fall Festival kicks off the last weekend of September with lots of family fun. Listen to live music, watch the festival parade and visit local vendors for great produce and goodies.

  • When: Friday, September 30, from 5 pm to 10 pm and Saturday, October 1, from 1 pm to 11 pm.

Missouri

Hermann Oktoberfest is an annual attraction with lots to see and do in October. Celebrate German heritage at Hermann with Oktoberfest! Beer, brats, live music and much more are offered during the festival. You can also take a tour of the festival wineries or visit some of the companies in Hermann.

  • Where: Herman, Missouri.
  • When: The first four weekends of October.

Hartsburg Pumpkin Festival

The Hartsburg Pumpkin Festival is a 31-year tradition in Mid-Missouri. The two-day fun begins with a parade in the small town of Hartsburg. The festival is accessible via the Katy Trail. Live music, entertainment and the crowning of Pumpkin King 2022 are just some of the exciting things to do at the festival.

  • Where: Hartsburg, Missouri.
    When: Saturday, October 8, 9 am to 5 pm and Sunday, October 9, 9 am to 5 pm.

Legends of São Carlos and Lantern Festival

Legends & Lanterns is a journey through the history of Halloween that takes place annually in St. Charles. See some of the festival’s most infamous Halloween characters and perhaps visit the Haunted History Trail.

  • Where: Saint Charles, Missouri.
  • When: Every Saturday and Sunday from October 15th to 30th. Times vary.

The Kimmswick Apple Butter Festival attracts over 100,000 visitors annually. Enjoy the festival’s food and craft vendors and experience Kimmswick’s small-town charm. There are also activities for children, such as train rides, face painting and a zoo.
