GOOGLE and YouTube users were surprised to find that the site and its video platform were down today.
The problem was not created by the world’s biggest search engine, but by a popular cybersecurity plugin.
Malwarebytes is an internet protection service used by individuals and businesses.
The service experienced issues running Google on September 21.
“We are aware of a temporary issue with the web filtering component of our product that may be blocking certain domains, including (google.com),” the verified Malwarebytes Twitter account wrote.
“We are actively working on a fix and will update Twitter as soon as we have more information.”
The company followed up with another thread explaining that the issue was resolved.
“The issue is now resolved and the update should happen automatically. If you’re still having issues, make sure the Malwarebytes client is updated to the latest version.”
