At least 10 dead after gunmen opened fire in pool hall

Mexico Shooting – Unidentified gunmen opened fire at a bar in central Mexico, killing 10 people, officials said.

Men with assault rifles stormed the billiards hall in Tarimoro, in the Mexican state of Guanajuato, at around 9 pm local time (3 am BST).

Numerous explosions were heard and the police arrived to find nine bodies strewn about the billiards hall “riddled with bullets”, according to the Mexican publication El Universal.

Three other people were injured in the attack at the ‘El Jarras bar, but one of the injured later died in hospital from his injuries.

A chilling video was shared on social media showing several bodies lying on the ground as a note left by the killers is filmed.

Several shots are heard in the background as the gunmen continue their assault.

The killers left two cards signed by the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel criminal group, which claimed responsibility for the massacre.

After the shooting, cartel gunmen escaped aboard waiting vehicles and fled.

The Mexican National Guard and the Army are conducting patrols to track down suspects and have launched an investigation.

Tarimoro, a small town of less than 36,000 people, is in the southern state of Guanajuato, in central Mexico, 120 miles northwest of the capital Mexico City.

Cartel gunmen have wreaked havoc in central Mexico in recent months.

In May, 11 people were killed in brutal attacks on a hotel and two bars in the city of Celaya, also in Guanajuato state.

Five others were injured when suspected cartel snipers armed with Molotov cocktails stormed the premises in a coordinated series of attacks.
